Industry: Biotech, Greentech

Problem solving

The project is aimed at developing an effective technology for growing functional products, designer furniture and building materials derived from the processing of waste by mushrooms.

How it works:

  1. Waste Preparation. Raw waste is ground into a fine mixture.
  2. Sterilization. The mixture is heat-treated in an autoclave to eliminate contaminants.
  3. Inoculation. Specially selected mushroom strains are introduced into the sterilized substrate.
  4. Shaping. The mixture is placed into plastic or silicone molds to define the final shape.
  5. Growth Phase. Over 5 days, the fungus grows, fully processing the waste and filling the mold.
  6. Final Product. Once removed from the molds, the items are structurally complete and can be further refined— cut, sanded, dyed, or patterned as needed.

Value

  • Innovation: Unique collection of 200+ mushroom strains
  • Speed: Production time for one item is just 5 days
  • Eco-friendliness: Final products are fully recyclable
  • Durability: Furniture lasts 10–15 years on average
  • Sustainability: Secondary raw material is used for production
